What is the Alexander Technique?
The Alexander Technique is a means of realising your potential.
The technique works from the premise that what we think is expressed through our bodies, and therefore we can learn to use conscious thought to change.
The method involves learning how to bring more awareness and presence to activity; noticing habits of movement and thinking that can cause physical and mental and emotional tension, developing the ability to choose how to respond to the challenges of life. The connection between mind and body is integral to the Technique and will be explored in the Course.
The Alexander Technique has the potential to change your life!
A course of Alexander lessons has been found to significantly reduce the incidence of back and neck pain.
The most recent trial funded by Arthritis Research UK, found that this benefit continued after the end of the research, as participants were able to use what they had learned to manage their neck pain more effectively.
Improvements were also seen in their mental health. The Technique is also taught in many Drama and Music Colleges.
