Hi – welcome to my profile – when things in life appear to overwhelm us counselling can help. Coping with anxiety, stress, depression, anger, low self-esteem, bereavement or loss can be made easier by talking to a professionally qualified therapist.
I am first and foremost a client centered therapist and have been practicing in the Abergavenny area for 8 years. My aim as a counsellor is to provide a service where clients can discuss their concerns in a safe, confidential and comfortable environment. Having qualified as a Cognitive Behaviour Therapist I use CBT techniques and strategies to support clients in a caring and compassionate way.
My work as a counsellor is enriched by my professional & personal life experiences. I have worked as a financial advisor in London and as a teacher and have supported people from all walks of life. I have a mixed race and mixed faith family and I have studied world religions and philosophy – I am able therefore to offer therapy from a perspective of faith but only if this is of relevance to you.
Bereavement support is also something I am able to offer.
Some feedback I have received from former clients demonstrates the benefits of counselling and learning CBT techniques:
‘It’s an amazing feeling when you’re listened to without judgement in a caring and supportive environment. I now feel in a better place – happier and content and looking forward to the future.’
‘All of my sessions with Helen were supportive and the CBT techniques Helen taught me brought about a huge change in my thinking patterns and in my confidence.’
