As another new year begins, many of you may have already made resolutions for changes in your lives. Some may be about letting go of old habits, or situations that no longer serve you in a positive way, or perhaps, opening up to new opportunities and experiences. Yet although we start off with the best of intentions, to get fitter, slimmer, become a non-smoker, change career, etc., sometimes we don’t quite get there and end up giving up.
There can be a number of reasons for this: not having the self-confidence or self-belief that you can achieve it. Not feeling ready to take that leap forward, or made as a head rather than heart decision, the ‘I should do this ’ rather than ‘it feels right to do this’ or it just feels too difficult and challenging.
We are creators of our own realities and we can chose to experience the process for achieving desired change as an endurance or we can chose to relax, let go and enjoy the process of becoming happier or healthier or more confident. Life tends to flow much more smoothly, when we get out of our own way.
The key to achieving and sustaining these positive changes, is not about putting feeling good on hold, until you are slimmer, healthier or more prosperous. It’s about getting happy now, with who you are, with what you already have and to feel at peace with where you are at, in any given moment. This is what helps to build the momentum to propel you forward. However, sometimes we may struggle with this, as a result of past experiences, old emotional baggage or negative thought patterns.
